Lately I've been teaching yoga classes all over the place and it's been wonderful connecting with so many. I was recently asked how things were going, and I hesitated...

Initially, I felt a pang of guilt admitting that I've decided to pull back a bit in some areas. It's so easy to feel that way, isn't it? Like we should always be doing more, giving more, and being "productive" in the traditional sense. Taking time for ourselves can feel selfish, like we're neglecting others.

But then I remembered something crucial that I'm always teaching: you can't pour from an empty cup. You can't be the best version of yourself for your family, friends, or anyone else if you're constantly running. We give so much of ourselves throughout the day – to our loved ones, our colleagues, our communities – that by the end of it, our cups are often depleted.

That's why it's absolutely essential to prioritize filling our own cups. We need to incorporate small, nourishing things into our daily routines that replenish our energy and bring us joy. This isn't selfish; it's an act of self-preservation that allows us to continue giving from a place of abundance, not depletion. We deserve to give the best of ourselves, not just what's left.

Yoga is such a passion of mine because it's a powerful way to nurture your whole being – body, mind, heart, and spirit. It helps you find peace, joy, and balance, which are essential for a healthy and fulfilling life. It's a reminder that taking care of yourselves is not a luxury, but a necessity.

I'd love to hear from you, or better yet see you. How are you filling your cup this week?
