It's time to hit the pause button.

You don't always have to be getting stuff done. You are allowed to slow down. You are allowed to take breaks from your never-ending list.

If fact you must make time for breaks. So often we tell ourselves when this is done, then I'll take a break, then I'll have time for myself. But the truth is the to do's are rarely ever done, the end of the day comes, you feel exhausted, you sit, you eat, you scroll.

When you make time to rest throughout day it reduces stress, improves focus, boosts creativity & enhances self-awareness.

Here are some ways to incorporate rest into your daily routine:

  • Schedule short breaks throughout the day: Even a few minutes of quiet can make a big difference. Try setting a timer for 5 minutes every few hour to step away from your work or responsibilities and simply relax.

  • Practice mindfulness: Pay attention to your breath and the present moment. Mindfulness can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths or focusing on the sensations in your body.

  • Journal: Write down your thoughts and feelings to process emotions. Journaling can be a helpful way to release stress and gain clarity.

  • Spend time in nature: Step outside, take a walk, sit by a tree, or simply enjoy the fresh air.

  • Create a relaxing evening routine: Establish a consistent bedtime routine to help your body and mind wind down for the night. This might include taking a warm bath, reading a book, or listening to calming music

  • Learn to say no: It's okay to decline invitations or commitments if you need time to rest and recharge.

  • Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself and avoid self-criticism. Remember that rest is essential for your well-being, and it's not a sign of weakness.

  • Find a hobby or activity that you enjoy: Engaging in activities that you find enjoyable can be a great way to relax and de-stress.

  • Get enough sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night to ensure that your body and mind have enough time to rest and recover.

It's important to find what works best for you and to make rest a priority in your life.

Remember, you're not selfish for taking time for yourself. In fact, it's the most selfless thing you can do. When you're rested and rejuvenated, you're better equipped to handle life's challenges and support others.
